B Shift responds to attic fireCrews from James Island, Charleston City and St. Andrews Fire department responded to a fire on Pickett Street on January 16, 2012. The single family residential structure had an attic fire caused by a lack of maintenance on the chimney. Homeowner attempted to put the fire out prior to going to bed. The next morning a passer-by reported smoke coming from the attic. All residents should contact the fire department to investigate fires even if they are extinguished. The responding crews have the tools and training to ensure the fire is truly extinguished and will not cause further damage or a loss of life if it rekindles later.
