Battalion Chief
Jeff Armstrong (EMT)
Chief Armstrong came to the JIFD in September 2011 from the California Fire Service. He began his career in 1996 as a volunteer firefighter. In California he served in the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain and Battalion Chief. He has been involved with Special Operations, Training and Prevention.
He was a State Fire Instructor and was involved with curriculum development. While in California his experience was not only as a structural firefighter, but also wildland firefighting. Under the California system he has responded to fires throughout the state, when needed, on an Engine company, as a Strike Team Leader and on overhead/support assignments.
Armstrong and wife Christy visited Charleston many times and fell in love with it. His hobbies include music, snowboarding and boating. Now that he is in Charleston he may have to replace his snowboarding hobby with wakeboarding instead!
