Grimsley Road Fire - December 2006
The best way to avoid home fires is to prevent them.  Sometimes that is not possible, but your overall chances are much better if you practice good habits of fire prevention.
One of the most important facets in the fire industry is prevention and safety.  JIFD prides itself in the fact that it is extremely proactive in the community regarding fire prevention and safety.   We perform the following functions:

* Give away and install free smoke detectors to the needy upon request.

*  Conduct home fire inspections, upon request.

*  Conduct business fire inspections annually.

*  Provide engine(s), upon request, for public events.

*  Provide and operate our Fire Safety House (a simulator for smoke, exit drills, cooking habits and 911 communications), upon request, for public events.

*  Go door-to-door after fires to educate the public about prevention.

*  Frequently visit schools and senior citizens centers to promote education about fire safety and prevention.

If you would like to request a fire prevention activity, you may use the
